T he emergence of a new strain of flu virus  is a situation that calls us to prepare, not panic.
We advise anyone who has flu-like symptoms to stay home. The symptoms of swine flu in include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people have reported diarrhea and vomiting.

Putnam City School District's focus remains on steps we can all take to protect children's health.  If you would like to read more information, please visit www.putnamcityschools.org/flu

The CDC recommends the following measures to reduce the spread of viruses:

· Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Keep your distance from others to protect them from getting sick too.

· Stay home from work, school, and errands when you are sick. You will help prevent others from catching your illness.

· Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. If a tissue is not available, cough or sneeze into the crook of your arm.  Always, immediately wash your hands afterward.

· Washing your hands often will help protect you from germs.

· Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.

· Practice other good health habits. Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food.

Thank you for your attention to this information.
