NEW IMMUNIZATION LAW!!!

A new immunization law went into effect last year requiring all students entering the 7th grade to have a Tdap booster. This shot is for protection against tetanus and pertussis (whooping cough). WOMS will be having an immunization clinic at school during the school day on March 28, 2012. At this clinic, your child can receive the Tdap shot and also the meningococcal immunization to protect them against bacterial meningitis free of charge. Your responsibility is to complete and sign the permission forms. They will be available at your school.

If you have any questions, please contact your school nurse. Thank you for your help in getting your child the required preventative immunizations.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Western Oaks Middle School recieved the "Academic Achievement Award" from the Oklahoma State Department of Education. WOMS was one of fourteen schools in the state receiving the award for exceeding API in reading for two consecutive years!!  Our site will receive $61,425.00 in Title I funds to help us maintain progress!!!

WOMS. ONE SCHOOL. ONE TEAM.  ALL-IN!!

MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Check out our after school clubs! Our school day is extended in an effort to continue building relationships with kids and providing more relevance in regard to curriculum and instruction.  We realize that no real learning takes place unless rapport and mutual respect is evident.  Americorp has partnered with us and will also be helping with after school clubs. They will provide additional professionals and high school students to tutor our students.  After school snacks and transportation are provided as well. Our after-school club bus leaves campus every day at 3:45.

If your middle school student has to wait for a sibling at the elementary school, they have two options.  They can attend an after school club until it is time to pick up their sibling or they can wait in our courtyard until it is time for the elementary school to release.  We do not want students roaming on campus after school hours.  If your child is not part of an after school club or waiting for a sibling, they need to leave campus after school dismisses.  Thank you for your attention to this matter.
